✨ Meet Preacher
Preacher looks like someone took a baby deer, a pocket-sized motivational speaker, one questionable little bat ear, and a sugar-high church greeter… then shook them all together in a tiny Chihuahua-mix body and said, “Go forth, little man. Make everyone obsessed.”
And honestly?
Mission accomplished.
This 4-month-old, 10.4-pound little Preacher-Man is an absolute darling of a boy with eyes so soulful they should come with a warning label. He looks at you like he already knows your entire emotional history, your snack habits, and the exact spot on your lap where he plans to file for permanent residency.
💜 The Littlest Face With the Biggest Feelings
Preacher is a tan-and-white little dreamboat with a smooth, short coat, delicate legs, a velvety white chest, and the most expressive baby face you’ve ever seen. His eyes are huge, shiny, and impossibly tender, the kind of eyes that make you whisper “sir, who hurt you?” even though he’s currently wagging his tail like a tiny helicopter.
And then there are the ears.
One ear likes to stand up and participate in society. The other appears to have resigned from its duties and now lives dramatically pinned behind his head like it heard gossip in 1998 and never emotionally recovered. Together, they create one of the most criminally adorable ear situations currently operating in the rescue world.
He is long-legged, bright-eyed, wiggly, and full of that glorious puppy energy where every movement says, “I have arrived, and I brought joy with me!
🛋️ Personality & Affection Style
Preacher is joy in a tiny body.
He loves life. He loves people. He loves dogs. He loves toys. He loves treats. He loves laps. He loves cuddling so much that if another dog is already occupying the lap, Preacher’s solution is simply to climb on top of them like a determined little emotional mountain goat. Because there’s nothing better than GROUP CUDDLES!
He is affectionate, eager to please, goofy, playful, and deeply people-connected. He plays hard, then sleeps hard, preferably curled up on your lap like a little baked potato with stunning eyelashes. His foster mom says cuddling is not optional for him. It is a lifestyle. A calling. A sacred Preacher-Man requirement.
🎾 Play Style & Enrichment
Preacher is a full-contact happiness goblin when playtime begins.
He loves all the toys. He loves fetch. He loves chasing his sister. He loves pouncing and romping around. He gets the zoomies, uses the snuffle mat, and loves exploring outside.
Food and treats are especially exciting. Preacher can technically sit for approximately .01 seconds before his entire body becomes a wiggly celebration parade. His tail goes so fast when food appears that it’s basically a tiny metronome of pure delight.
🧠 Learning & Training
Preacher is doing well with potty training and is about 90% there. He goes potty outside most of the time, though he still sometimes has evening poop accidents inside and has had a couple of accidents on rugs instead of a pee pad. Translation: he is a puppy, not a tiny tax attorney with a fully developed executive function department.
He knows “sit,” but holding that sit when treats are involved is currently a spiritual battle he is losing with enthusiasm. He is smart, eager, food-motivated, and still learning how to contain all the joy inside his little body.
His future family should be ready for normal puppy life: consistency, patience, structure, training, socialization, supervision, and continued enrichment. Preacher has all the ingredients. He just needs humans who understand that puppies are adorable little construction zones with paws.
🐾 Social Behavior
Preacher has done beautifully with people and animals in his foster home. He has been good with men, women, elderly folks, older/considerate kids, small dogs, big dogs, older dogs, male dogs, female dogs, and cats.
He has spent time with kids ages 13, 14, and 17 and loved them all. We do not know how he would do with very small children.
He can share his human with other dogs, *could* possibly be okay as an only dog as long as he had his hoomans around more often than not and had LOTS of opportunities to socialize with other friendly dogs, but he would VERY MUCH prefer to have a playful friend in the home. His foster mom says he wants a friend to play with and a human to cuddle him often, which is basically the Preacher-Man constitution.
🌎 Confidence & World Navigation
Preacher is curious, joyful, and loves being outside exploring. He can be a little cautious, but not in a shut-down way. More in the “I am small, the world is large, and I would like to assess this situation” kind of way.
He also loves to “guard the house,” which we assume means he takes his tiny security job very seriously between cuddle shifts and snack-related emotional events.
Once fully vaccinated, his foster mom believes he would love going on walks. With gentle exposure, positive guidance, and a family who keeps building his confidence, Preacher is going to continue blooming into the most wonderful little companion.
🏡 Ideal Home
Preacher would thrive in a home that wants an engaged, affectionate, playful puppy who needs both activity and lap time. He could live happily with another friendly dog, especially one who enjoys play, but he could also be an only dog if his humans provide plenty of attention, enrichment, and companionship.
He would do well with older, considerate kids. He may be a bit much for some elderly adopters right now simply because he is still a puppy with sharp little claws, excited movement, and the occasional “I am a joyous baby noodle” energy burst.
His ideal family will understand puppy training, keep him engaged, help him finish potty training, offer safe socialization, and make room in their lap because Preacher is not asking politely. He has already filed paperwork.
💜 Heart of the Dog
Preacher is one of those little souls who makes the room feel warmer just by being in it.
He is silly, tender, joyful, cuddly, and completely sincere in everything he does. When he plays, he gives you his whole tiny body. When he loves, he gives you his whole heart. When he looks at you with those enormous soulful eyes, you get the feeling he is not just asking for a home.
He is asking for his person.
A friend to play with. A human to cuddle him. A safe place to grow up. A life full of toys, sunshine, snacks, structure, soft laps, and someone who sees what we see: a darling little boy who is lucky to be alive, and who has so much love ahead of him.
Preacher is not just cute.
He is a tiny, wiggly, tender-hearted soulmate in the making.
KNOWN HISTORY:
Gustopher, Preacher, and Possum were surrendered to rescue through a local hoarding case at the age of about 15 weeks. All were undersocialized, but so hopeful. ALL fell in love with people the moment they learned how wonderful humans could be. ALL are precious, incredibly loving, and ready to be the center of your world. They will return that love 1000-fold.
