🖤 GUNTHER Gunther is a soul dog wrapped in velvet ears — a joyful, wrestling, leaf-chasing goofball with the softest heart hiding underneath.

🖤 THE LOOK (Because Let’s Be Honest…)

Gunther is sleek, glossy black — the kind of coat that shines in the sunlight like it was polished. He has a little white splash on his chest and the sweetest dusting of white on a few of his tippy toes, like he stepped in whipped cream and just went with it.

His paws are oversized and slightly uncoordinated — which explains why when he tries to hit top speed, he occasionally rolls head over butt and pops back up like, “I meant to do that.”

And then there are the ears.

Long. Dramatic. Glorious.
They dip in the water bowl.
They flap behind him when he runs.
They get lovingly tugged during wrestling matches.

You cannot look at this dog and not smile.

But the real magic is who he is.

🌟 WHO GUNTHER REALLY IS

Gunther is ALL puppy. Everything is new, life is an adventure, and this boy was built to enjoy and explore!

Each day brings new adventures for this little (for now) pup! Rolling in grass. Tumbling in dog beds. Big paws not cooperating with the speed his brain demands.

He plays hard. He commits fully. He is joyful to his core… until he crashes out because – baby.

But watch closely, and you’ll see something else.

When you hold him while standing, he wraps his paws around your shoulders and presses into your neck like he’s hugging you back. When he manages a solid “sit,” he looks up with those deep, soulful, hound dog eyes like he just solved world peace and needs you to confirm you saw it.

“Look. I did it. Are you proud?”

He doesn’t sit still long, though  — he has important puppy business to get back to — but the softness is absolutely there.

He is not frantic. He is not chaotic. He is a happy, active, growing puppy with a very balanced, sweet temperament underneath the goof.

And over the past few days?
He has started stretching out in the yard, laying in the sunshine, just… watching the world.

That quiet side is emerging.

⚡ ENERGY & PLAY STYLE

Gunther has wonderfully silly puppy energy right now.

He loves running the yard with his foster mom, chasing leaves on windy days (and being SO proud when he catches one), wrestling with his brother, and engaging with other dogs — including a 24-pound Shiba twice his size. He holds his own beautifully and takes turns in play. If things get a little too rowdy, he redirects easily.

He notices neighborhood sounds. He stops and listens. He processes. Then back to having fun.

His favorite “toy” in the world right now?
His brother.

Non-stop rolling, tugging, tumbling, learning to speak dog. It’s adorable and completely age-appropriate.

When he’s all tuckered out, he LOVES chew time. Bully sticks, Benebones, and anything appropriate to work those puppy teeth. He has not destroyed household items (other than potty pads — those apparently offend him).

And the toy hoarding? Legendary.

Gunther takes ALL his toys into his dog bed and shoves them into the crease along the edge like he’s hiding treasure. Foster mom cleans them out multiple times a day. Gunther replaces them. Every time.

This is his system. Please respect it.

🧠 ENRICHMENT & LEARNING

This boy enjoys working his brain.

He eats one meal from a snuffle mat, one from a wobbly bowl, and one from a treat-dispensing ball that he must push and strategize around. He LOVES his ball pit — especially when hidden kibble treasures are involved. Enrichment is the name of the game for smart, big-brained dogs!

He enjoys lick mats and chew sessions. Puzzle boards are still a little too advanced for his current attention span, but the interest is there.

He rides beautifully in a crate in the car — especially if he has a chew item. Without one, he will whimper because… well… he prefers entertainment.

Whimpering is his communication style.
Dinner time? Whimper.
Wants out? Whimper.
Needs attention? Whimper.

It’s polite. It’s not dramatic. It’s just his voice.

🚽 POTTY TRAINING & ROUTINE

Gunther is still a wee little baby and is working hard on potty training. He uses a potty pad overnight and goes outside regularly during the day.

When taken out consistently, he does both potties outside reliably. He will go to the door and whimper to let you know he needs out. However — and this is just puppy reality — when he is deeply invested in playing with his brother, he sometimes forgets that bladders exist.

He is a baby.

Structure and consistency will be key. His foster mom truly believes that once he is not laser-focused on his brother 24/7, he will progress quickly — and we agree.

He understands the concept. He just sometimes chooses fun over responsibility.

Relatable.

💞 AFFECTION & CONNECTION

Gunther enjoys affection, but he is not a long-duration lap statue right now.

If you sit on the floor, he will crawl into your lap and ask for attention. When held standing, he clings and snuggles. On the couch, he will sometimes sprawl out and lay his head on your chest.

And then?

Back to play.

He’s not overly needy. He shares attention easily. When his brother gets love, he joins in — not out of jealousy, but curiosity. He wants to know what’s happening.

And yes — he snores.

This tiny, velvety puppy snores when he’s deeply comfortable. It started recently. It’s ridiculous. It will make you laugh every single time.

🏡 IDEAL HOME

Gunther absolutely NEEDS another friendly, playful dog in his life. That companionship is everything to him right now. Running, learning, playing — it’s his language.

He would likely do well with children who want to engage and play. He enjoys being outside (especially in warmer weather) and will need daily walks, and would love frequent adventures with his hoomans as he grows.

For now, it would be best for his potty-training success if his family can be home with him more often than not. Down the road, he’d be fine alone but would absolutely prefer some canine company.

He is learning “sit” (with improving duration), leash basics in the yard, and continuing potty consistency. He will flourish with structure and leadership.

💜 WHY WE LOVE HIM

Because Gunther IS joy.

Because nothing seems to truly bother him (except wanting out of his play area).

Because he sits by the front door and watches the world like a tiny philosopher.

Because he chases leaves like they personally offended him.

Because he hides his toys like treasure.

Because he’s clumsy, and tumbles head over butt and gets right back up.

Because when he looks at you, there is sweetness there. Depth. A softness that says he is going to grow into something really special.

Gunther isn’t just a puppy.

He’s a bright, goofy, loving little soul who is going to make someone laugh every single day of his life.

And whoever gets him?

They won’t just be adopting a dog.

They’ll be gaining a best friend with ears that deserve their own zip code. 💜
