At just about 15 months old and 58 pounds of pure, brindle-painted fabulousness, Delilah looks like she was designed by an artist who said, “Let’s do something bold here.” Her coat is a rich swirl of deep rust and smoky black, and then topped with the most perfectly imperfect scruffy beard that gives her permanent “I have thoughts about this” energy. Her ears can’t quite decide what they’re doing, her tail is always enthusiastically involved in whatever’s happening, and her eyes? Her eyes are soft, expressive, and quietly full of everything she’s been through… and everything she’s ready to give.

And what she’s ready to give… is a lot. Like, full-contact, Velcro-level, slightly invasive levels of love.

Delilah doesn’t just cuddle. She commits.

She wedges herself between her people like she’s claiming her rightful spot in the emotional support sandwich, curls up behind you if there’s no room, or gently but persistently rearranges your limbs until you understand that yes, this is now a shared space. She sleeps in bed (and by “sleeps in bed,” we mean “slowly expands until she owns it”), and on the couch she is either pressed against you or actively trying to become one with you.

And then… there are the paws.

Delilah is a talker. Not with her voice, but with her little grabby, expressive hands. Watching your phone? Paw. Not enough pets? Paw. Trying to pretend that she doesn’t exist? Absolutely not. Paw. Shoulder taps, gentle grabs, “excuse me I wasn’t finished loving you” taps… she has a full communication system and she uses it.

🎾 Playful, Smart, and Secretly a Little Comedian

This girl is not just a lover… she’s got a whole playful, curious, “let’s see what happens if I do THIS” side.

She lives for enrichment. Lick mats, Benebones, puzzle toys, treat-stuffed stuffies she can dissect like a tiny archaeologist searching for snacks… she’s in her element when her brain is working. One of her absolute favorite games is “Go Find It,” where she hunts down treats hidden in toys like it’s her full-time job and she’s trying to earn employee of the month.

She loves squeaky balls, will proudly squeak them the entire way back to you, and happily engages in fetch, tug, and backyard zoomie sessions that occasionally include investigative rabbit surveillance. She’s also been known to enjoy a good sunbathing session like a retired lady on a cruise ship deck.

She’s smart, food-motivated, and already knows several commands like sit, down, shake, and high five… and she’s the kind of dog who would absolutely learn more just to make you happy.

🐾 Dog-Friendly Queen (And Honestly… She Needs It)

Delilah truly thrives with another friendly dog.

She loves having a buddy. Wrestling, tug, chase, shared zoomies… she’s all in. And while she can come in a little strong at first (because enthusiasm is her brand), she’s actually incredibly socially aware. She’ll adjust, roll over, share toys, and even give things up just to keep the peace and keep the friendship going. She responds well to behavior cues and adapts as she plays. It’s honestly kind of beautiful to watch.

Having another dog has helped her confidence grow tremendously, helped her settle more easily, and given her an outlet for her playful energy. For Delilah, a canine companion isn’t just a bonus… it’s part of her best life blueprint.

🌎 Big World, Brave Girl (Who’s Still Figuring It Out)

Delilah has come so far, and it shows.

She’s fully potty trained, sleeps through the night like a dream, and will let you know when she needs to go out (sometimes by politely pawing you, because of course she does). She walks nicely on leash, and enjoys car rides with her favorite hoomans.

She can still be a little unsure with new people or unfamiliar situations, especially men at first or busy environments. When she feels overwhelmed, she might piddle a bit or grab a comfort toy to help herself cope, but she’s making huge gains here every single day. She’s been through more than any dog should have to go through and she’s come through the other side like a champ! Give her a little time, a little patience, and a little reassurance… and you’ll watch her soften, trust, and bloom right in front of you in just minutes.

She doesn’t need perfection. She just needs someone who understands that confidence is something she’s building… and who’s willing to keep cheering her on while she does.

🌳 The Life She’s Dreaming Of

Delilah is looking for a home that feels like a FOREVER home and hoomans who will love her as much as she loves them.

A securely fenced yard where she can run, explore, and keep watch over her kingdom… (queendom?) A family who enjoys walks, sunshine, and couch time in equal measure. A home where she’s allowed to be close, included in your adventures, and part of the everyday rhythm of life.

She would do best with another friendly dog, older or respectful, gentle children who won’t scream or jump on her, and a family who will continue her training, enrichment, and confidence-building. Cats? Probably not her vibe… she finds them a little too interesting.
