✨ Ryder

Some puppies walk into a room.

Ryder arrives like he owns the lease, the land, and possibly the neighboring zip code.

He carries himself with the confidence of a seasoned professional, despite still being very much a baby with oversized paws and zero concept of personal space when it comes to snuggles. One minute he’s conducting high-level backyard inspections… the next, he’s flopped in your lap like a sleepy little marshmallow who forgot he was on yard patrol.

💜 His Ridiculously Adorable Look

Ryder is believed to be a Schnauzer/Terrier-type mix, and whoever designed him clearly said, “Let’s make him unforgettable.”

His coat is a soft, scruffy blend of creamy ivory and warm golden tan, perfectly tousled like he just rolled out of a very important meeting… or a pile of blankets. His little whiskery muzzle gives him that irresistible “tiny gentleman” look, while his soft brown eyes hold this thoughtful, almost soulful expression that makes you feel like he’s quietly studying you.

And then… the ears.

The ears deserve their own paragraph. Possibly their own zip code.

One stands tall and proud like it’s receiving satellite signals from space. The other tilts and flirts with the breeze like it’s got a secret. Together, they create a face that is equal parts teddy bear, scruffy philosopher, and mildly suspicious backyard security system.

🛋️ Personality & Affection Style

Ryder is the definition of “go with the flow” wrapped in a scruffy little body.

He’s playful, confident, and independent enough to entertain himself, but the second you scoop him up, he melts. Completely. This boy can go from full zoomie mode to calm, snuggled, belly-up lap potato in seconds flat. He actively seeks out affection, happily settles into your lap, and soaks up love like it’s his full-time job.

He nuzzles your neck. He gives little nose kisses. And sometimes it genuinely feels like he’s saying, “Thank you for loving me,” in the quietest, sweetest way.

🎾 Play, Toys & Daily Shenanigans

Ryder loves toys. All toys. If it squeaks, crinkles, flops, or simply exists… it’s fair game.

His absolute favorite is a giant blue loofah toy that he proudly shakes, tosses, and parades around like he just won it in battle. He also loves snuffle mats, treat dispensers, food puzzles, and kibble trails in the yard—this boy is smart and very food motivated.

One of his signature moves? Grab a prized item (toy, stick, bully stick), then run past everyone like, “Catch me if you can,” fully expecting a chase.

And then there’s the bully stick situation.

Ryder will take it outside—because of course he will—and then begin an extremely serious search for the perfect hiding spot. He inspects multiple locations, rejects them with visible disappointment, and continues his mission like a tiny real estate agent specializing in snack storage.

🧠 Training & Puppy Progress

Ryder is already showing off his brains.

He’s working on “sit” and “shake” (and yes, he does both in an incredibly dapper, head-tilted way that will emotionally destabilize you). He’s also learning impulse control—waiting calmly with four paws on the floor before doors open and practicing sitting politely for attention.

He thrives with enrichment like food puzzles and snuffle mats, which makes training both fun and effective.

For potty training, Ryder is doing very well for his age. He wakes up and goes straight outside to do his business when given the opportunity, and if a potty pad is available indoors, he will use it. Like any young puppy, he is still learning how to communicate when he needs to go out, so occasional accidents can happen as he continues building consistency.

🐾 Social Life

Ryder has done wonderfully with men and women and has been sweet with kids he has met. He’s done great with older kids (12–15) and has interacted with younger children (around 8+) where he may be briefly cautious at first but warms up quickly into a loving, gentle companion.

He enjoys playing with other dogs of all sizes and happily shares his humans. He can also entertain himself if the group is resting, which makes him a nice balance of social and independent.

He may get a little overexcited during play and can get into the occasional puppy scuffle, so continued guidance and structure will help him grow into polite, well-balanced doggy interactions.

🌎 Confidence & How He Handles the World

Ryder has swagger.

He explores the yard like a tiny king surveying his kingdom, ears catching every sound, eyes scanning for important developments (like… leaves). He’s confident, curious, and adaptable, able to jump into play or settle into calm depending on what the moment calls for.

He also has an alert bark, so he will happily announce things he finds suspicious or interesting.

🏡 Ideal Home

Ryder would thrive in a home that embraces both sides of him: the playful, active puppy and the snuggly, affectionate lap companion.

He would love a family who enjoys playtime, enrichment, and training, and who also appreciates a dog that can settle and relax. He could do beautifully with another playful dog, especially with guidance to help him continue learning polite play skills. He could also do well as an only dog with enough engagement, socialization, and connection.

He would do well with gentle,  considerate children and a family committed to continuing his training, structure, and puppy development.

💜 The Heart of Ryder

Ryder is that rare little mix of confidence and softness.

He struts around like he owns the place… and then curls into your lap like he just needs a moment of quiet love. He plays big, loves deeply, and settles into connection with this gentle, grateful energy that sneaks up on you.

He’s not just cute. He’s not just funny.

He’s the kind of dog who becomes part of your rhythm, your routine, your heart… faster than you expected.

KNOWN HISTORY:

Chase, Dixon, and Ryder were rescued from a high kill shelter in North Texas on April 1st. They were scared, alone, and didn’t have long to live. With the help of rescue partners in the area, Pawsitive Restorations Animal Rescue was able to pull the boys from the shelter and bring them to safety in our program, where they have been living in loving foster homes while learning, growing, and blossoming.
