✨ Meet Smudge
Some puppies are adorable.
Some puppies are sweet.
And then there are puppies like Smudge, who somehow manage to be ridiculously beautiful, endlessly playful, and unbelievably lovable all at the same time.
Born December 4, 2025, this Mini Schnauzer / Poodle mix is the blue merle heartthrob of his litter — a fluffy, scruffy little masterpiece of silver, charcoal, and smoky black that makes people do a double-take the moment they see him.
But the thing about Smudge is this:
Yes, he’s stunning.
But once you actually get to know him?
You realize the real magic is his heart.
🐾 A Walking Work of Art (With a Scruffy Face)
Smudge’s coat is absolutely breathtaking.
His blue merle coloring swirls together shades of silver, charcoal, slate, and smoky black in that beautiful marbled pattern that makes merle dogs look like living watercolor paintings.
And then you add the scruffy schnauzer texture on top of that?
Chef’s kiss.
His fluffy beard and soft muzzle give him that irresistibly kissable little face, while his bright eyes carry an expression that somehow manages to be both curious and gentle at the same time.
He’s the kind of puppy that strangers stop to admire.
But Smudge doesn’t seem overly concerned with his model-level good looks.
He’s far more interested in important things.
Like toys.
And following his people around.
And occasionally hopping across the room like a tiny bunny.
🎾 Playtime Is a Full Contact Sport
Smudge has a high-energy, playful personality and loves jumping into games with his brothers.
Toys are one of his absolute favorite things, and he’s especially fond of ball toys that he can chase and pounce on with great enthusiasm.
He plays beautifully with the other dogs in his foster home and gets along wonderfully with his siblings. His foster mom mentioned she’s rarely seen babies play together so well — sharing toys, tugging, and bouncing around without much drama.
One of Smudge’s signature moves?
When he gets excited and starts chasing toys or other puppies, sometimes he bounds across the room like a little bunny.
It’s not a run.
It’s not a walk.
It’s more like a joyful boing-boing-boing situation.
And it’s hilarious.
💜 Sweet, Loyal, and Always Nearby
Even though Smudge loves playtime, he also has a very sweet and affectionate side.
He’s the kind of puppy who enjoys being close to his people and will often settle nearby while his foster mom works, patiently waiting for the next moment of attention or playtime.
Sometimes he curls up at her feet.
Other times he quietly climbs the little stairs to the couch and settles in for a nap like he owns the place.
And when evening rolls around and the house settles down?
You might glance over at the couch and find Smudge snoozing peacefully like the cozy little companion he is.
He may enjoy exploring and playing, but at the end of the day he very much wants to be part of the family.
🧠 Smart Puppy Brain Still Learning the Ropes
Smudge is an intelligent little guy who is still learning all the basics of puppy life.
He’s currently working on potty training and does well going outside when taken out regularly throughout the day. Like most young puppies, he is still figuring out how to signal when he needs to go out and will sometimes miss the potty pads while he’s learning.
With routine, patience, and consistency, he will continue improving as he grows.
He is eager to please and very people-oriented — wonderful traits that will help him succeed as he continues learning and developing.
🏡 The Kind of Home Smudge Will Love
Smudge would do beautifully in a home that includes him in daily life and gives him opportunities to explore, play, and be part of family activities.
His foster mom believes he would thrive in a home that includes:
• Respectful, gentle children
• Another friendly dog to play with
• People who enjoy including their dog in outings and adventures
• A home where he is treated as a true family member
He has a slightly adventurous streak and seems like the kind of dog who would happily join in on walks/hikes, playtime in the yard, or cozy evenings on the couch.
Smudge is happiest when he feels included and connected to the people he loves.
💫 Your Best Little Buddy
When Smudge looks at you, his foster mom says he seems like the kind of dog who would follow you to the ends of the earth if you asked him to.
He’s playful.
He’s sweet.
He’s beautiful.
But more than anything… he’s a puppy who is ready to grow into someone’s very best friend.
And the lucky person who brings him home?
They’ll get the whole package.
A stunning little companion.
A playful sidekick.
And a loyal buddy for life.
KNOWN HISTORY:
This kiddo was rescued from the pet trade. Living in a real home now, they are learning all about life outside of the cage with their loving foster families. They are enjoying playtime, beginning training, learning structure, and having the BEST time of their lives. (so far)
About This Breed Mix:
What a pistol! Smart, active, and adorable, the Schnoodle has become a popular hybrid dog breed. As a cross between the Poodle and the Schnauzer, their coats can showcase an array of colors, ranging from black, to gray, to white, to sable, to even apricot. While most Schnoodles are small, their size varies due to the three distinct size variations of both Schnauzers and Poodles. Larger Schnoodles remain relatively uncommon. Currently, there’s no established breed standard for Schnoodles. Given that, their different sizes are simply and loosely categorized as Toy, Miniature, Standard, and Giant. With a weight range spanning six to 76 pounds, the Schnoodle has a place as a lap dog, family companion, therapy aid, or even a performance dog. Their role extends to guarding loved ones, showcasing their prowess as diligent protectors. The Schnoodle’s charm lies in the fusion of their parent breeds’ best traits. To clarify, this hybrid‘s appeal stems from often having the Poodle’s willingness to please mixed with the sturdiness and activity of the Schnauzer. Plus, they are whip smart and easy to train. To this end, their sharp intellect and liveliness necessitates a daily need for physical and mental engagement in order to stave off boredom. Otherwise, be prepared to address this pup’s potentially destructive behavior. Inherent in Schnauzers is a tendency to favor one person over others, a trait often passed down to Schnoodles. While they maintain affection for the entire family, occasional preferences arise. If their favored person remains absent for too long, these dogs may grapple with separation anxiety. Nonetheless, this pup’s playful and affectionate nature thrives on enjoyment, consistently commanding attention and infusing delight into every moment with their loved ones.
