RUBY
Sweet, happy, healthy Ruby is about a 2-3 year old Kelpie or Cattle Dog Mix (we think!) She is curious, incredibly smart, playful, loving, and eager to please! Ruby is a young girl with a lot of life to live! She still has a lot of puppy energy which would make for a great hiking/running parter! She is very inquisitive and loves to explore her world and check out all the new things! We’ve learned that the ball is her most favorite toy! Did she have toys in her past? We don’t know, but she sure is enjoying them now! Ruby likes to grab her ball as it flies through the air and then play keep away with it! She is highly food motivated which makes her focused and ready to learn new things! Given her very recent history with nearly being starved to death, she can be possessive of food at first, but redirects nicely. We think this beautiful girl would do best in a home with a secure back yard where she has room to run around and play to her little heart’s content. She likes to be with her people and will happily follow you all around the house, especially if you are in the kitchen and preparing food.
You can tell her to go lay down and she will. She is a very smart little girl and even knows, sit, sit pretty, and shake! We are currently working on the down command. Ruby has been working with our trainer and is a CHAMP at the “find-it” game! Ruby thrives on enrichment and learning! Ruby was probably a singer in her past life! She likes to talk, and she probably thinks you can understand everything she’s telling you! This happy baby will let you know when she wants something. She lets her foster mom know whenever she needs to go outside, and has never once had an accident in the home! Ruby sleeps all night in her kennel, but would gladly sleep on the bed with you if allowed.
She is doing great with her foster doggy sister, but it took time for Ruby to get comfortable being with another dog. Another really awesome thing about this little girl is how easily redirected she is. She cues in to her people and listens well! She is wicked smart, ready to learn, and VERY eager to please her hoomans!
Ruby has been let down horribly by humans in her short life. That didn’t make her resentful. More than anything, Ruby is GRATEFUL for the good people in her life now. KNOWN HISTORY – Ruby was found dumped way out in the country in OK. Out where no one should have ever found her. She was starved – nearly to death when rescue angels found her and brought her to safety. Poor little Ruby weighed all of FOURTEEN POUNDS when she was rescued from her own personal hell. We have no idea how she escaped the predators for so long, but this girl is a survivor! Ruby has gained great weight, and is now at 25 pounds! She could probably gain another 3-4 to be at an ideal body score.

Ruby’s adoption fee is $300 and includes spay, microchip with free lifetime registration, age appropriate vaccinations, and dewormers. Heartworm prevention has been started.
