Sir Nathan Longbottom is about a 4 year old, male Dachshund mix. This low-rider is a silly, talkative, playful little wiggle butt! When he is happy and prancing around, his rear end wiggles at the same time and it is the cutest thing you ever did see! This lil’ man loves to play with his toys and with other dogs, too! He will play with ANY toy, and he really loves to make them squeak. He is pretty good about letting you know when he needs to go outside; we have only had a couple of accidents in the house when he first arrived. He sleeps through the night in his kennel and is good about going into in his kennel at bedtime. Outside of bedtime, he’s not a fan of being in the kennel, and has been non-destructive in the home when left out of it. He does prefer to be with his hoomans, though.. If you leave a room, he’s probably going to tag along to see what his hoomans are up to. He is happy lying on your lap on the couch, but will keep himself occupied if you’re too busy to snuggle at the moment. In true Dachshund fashion, this boyo loves to burrow under any blanket or dog bed he can find. That’s what they do! So plan on giving him lots of blankets to bury his little weenie-butt in! He is good about entertaining himself with his toys or sleeping under a blanket while his foster mom is working from home. Nathan clearly never had to maneuver stairs before, but he’s slowly getting the hang of it. He can go UP the stairs all by hims wittle self now! Nathan is great on car rides and prefers to have a blanket to burrow under while in the car. He knows how to sit and is very treat motivated. We are working on him taking the treats gently. Sometimes he gets SO EXCITED that he forgets and just needs a reminder. Nathan is doing well with leash training, and has learned that he LOVES going on walkies! He still pulls a little, but he’s catching on quick! If there is one single ray of sunshine in your home – this boy is going to find it and lay right in that spot to soak up all the sun he can! (Aren’t we all these days?!) This boy is going to bring someone a LOT of joy and a lot of laughs! Is that you?
KNOWN HISTORY – Nathan was a stray in OK at a small, rural shelter. His outlook was pretty bleak until we sprang his springy-butt from the joint! Now he’s ready to find the forever family that will love him for the rest of his days!
