Daisy-Mae – Terrier Mix (probably with Billy Goat), Female

Have you always wanted a  Billy Goat, but your HOA says, “NO-WAY!”? Well now is your chance to circumvent the system, folks! #AdoptableDaisyMae is about a 1.5yr old Terrier mix (probably border terrier) and we guess that somewhere in her lineage, a billy goat’s DNA got mixed in. HAHAHA! No, seriously. Scroll back up and look at her picture collage. Please note the photo in the bottom right. That’s Daisy on a counter height table. Remember that you saw that, it will be on the test.

Daisy is a really WONDERFUL, super sweet, charismatic little girl who emphatically loves her people, and will cherish them forever!  She has SO much character! She will keep the right family in stitches constantly! But you do truly have to be the “RIGHT” family for her. Do you enjoy snuggling in bed with your pooch to keep you warm at night? GREAT! Because Daisy sleeps on the bed. (PERIODT!)   Do you need an alarm clock to get your lazy butt out of bed between 8 and 8:30 am? (even on weekends?) If yes, YOU ARE IN LUCK! Daisy doesn’t miss a meal, my friends. She will jump up on the bed and give you gentle face kisses to wake you up for breakfast! If you bury your head in the pillow, she is happy to let you sleep in a little while longer before trying again. Daisy has been known to paw at you to help wake up if her sweet kisses don’t do the trick!  She will also paw at you if she wants attention, or if she wants you to hold her hand/paw. This is a thing, just go with it. Daisy loves pets, snuggles, belly rubs, chin scratches, you name it! She is incredibly focused on her hoomans, wants to be with you, and relishes getting pets and lovinz. Daisy absolutely LOVES attention from her people, and if other dogs are getting pets, Daisy is going to come join in the fun!  Daisy has done well with other well-mannered dogs who don’t get in her face and aren’t persistently trying to get her to play.  She doesn’t constantly demand attention, and is very good at keeping herself busy when you have other things to do.

Daisy is only now learning how to play. Most mama dogs don’t play AT ALL when their puppies are young. In fact, they become the ‘Fun Police’ and put a quick stop to any and all shenanigans. It isn’t until the puppies are weaned and older that a mama will relax and begin to play. Daisy is just now getting to that stage.

As mentioned, she can  jump fairly high. Now, we BELIEVE she has climbed up onto the tables in her foster home to escape her 9, yes NINE velociraptor puppies, but we have also seen her climb onto the table in search of food after the family has eaten, though she hasn’t done it recently.  Keeping the chairs pushed in helps with this. Daisy is easily redirected as well.  Daisy really WANTS to be a counter surfer and if she was just a teeeeeeeny bit taller, she could pull it off! But alas, she cannot jump onto the counters so we’re safe!

Daisy is incredibly food motivated, which makes basic training a breeze, but she has no boundaries when it comes to feeding time. Therefore, Daisy must eat meals and long lasting treats in her crate or in a separate room from the other animals.  She absolutely will get into another dog’s bowl and eat their food, which can lead to a scuffle.  We have not been able to rectify this, so eating in her crate is just what we do, and what you will need to do as well if you have other dogs. Daisy does well in her crate when the family has to leave. She does whine and bark at first, but settles in well. She is potty trained and uses the dog door to do her business outside. She has not been destructive in the yard at all, but she will bark to alert you to the presence of people or dogs out walking, and to that pesky squirrel who has been hanging out recently.

Won’t you please consider adding this precious, sweet, loving little girl to your family? If you are not quite ready to add a new member to your family, won’t you please SHARE our adoptable kiddos to your social media? You never know when your share is the share that will bring them home.
