BABY
Baby here! I’m flattered that Senior Canine Magazine wanted to interview me, but I didn’t feel like flying out to NYC so I had them send their questions to my assistant…
SCM) What do you like to do for fun, Baby?
ME) I love hanging out with all the hoomans. I’m a social lady, after all! Sometimes squirrels come into the yard. “Not MY yard,” I tell them! It’s great fun chasing them off to another tree. Food is a guilty pleasure. I wasn’t eating very well before I came to Pawsitive Restorations. All of my teeth were terribly rotted and very painful. Since my rescuers got me all fixed up, I’m all about the yummy treats! My foster mom brought some puppies home a few weeks ago. At first I was like, “meh” but the little hooligans have grown on me. I like running around and playing with the little fuzz-balls. At my age, I’m not all about grand adventures. A cozy night at home snuggling with my hooman is absolute heaven. If my hooman forgets that i’m sitting right next to them on the sofa – staring at them… I’ll give them a little nudge and wiggle my way under their arm to remind them that I need some quality time.
SCM) Do you prefer being outdoors or indoors?
ME) I’m really more of the “INDOORSY” type. My idea of roughing it is: No Room Service. 😲 Don’t get me wrong, I like a quick lounge in the sunshine, and of course I go out to take care of personal matters, but I am happy to get back inside to my comfortable furnishings and air conditioning.
SCM) Do you have any fears?
ME) They tell me that I have a serious case of FOMO (for those of you not in ‘the know’, that’s a Fear Of Missing Out). Please don’t go into other rooms without me. If you do, I’ll just follow you. If you are my hooman, then I want to be WITH you in OUR home.
SCM) Would you consider yourself a good watch dog?
ME) Seriously?! I’m not looking for a job, sugar. I’m looking for a family who will love me for the rest of my days!
SCM) Do you like men??
ME) What gal named, “BABY” doesn’t like men?!
SCM) What about kids? Do you like tiny hoomans?
ME) As long as they are respectful and don’t try to pick me up, we get along just fine! I enjoy snuggling with them on the couch, and when they are gentle with me, I thoroughly enjoy their company. I don’t have the patience required for little kids, as they seem to be forgetful that I do have some special needs in my advanced years. I’ve lost my hearing, you see, and when I’m sleeping I don’t hear them coming. I’m sad to say that I do startle easily when I’m jolted awake by a child. I prefer a gentle pet along my back, or perhaps a subtle stomp on the floor to alert me that you are there.
SCM) Do you like to exercise?
ME) Like going for walks? OH YES! I enjoy walks very much! I am wonderful on leash and very easy to walk with. My foster-dog sister and I walk every single day and it really is a highlight of my day. There are so many things to see, and wonderful things to smell. It’s the little things like that special time with my hoomans that make life worth living! I get my aerobics in by going up and down the stairs. I’ve heard that exercising on the stairs is great for your joints, and I do it quite nimbly, thank you very much!
SCM) Do you have any health concerns?
ME) I’m as fit as a fiddle… mostly! I was in pretty rough shape when my rescuers saved me. They got me fixed right up and I’m feeling like a young pup again! I do have some VERY mild arthritis in my hips, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from walking, running, and cruising up and down the stairs! My rescuers got to me RIGHT IN TIME! They did a full body checkup, including x-rays and bloodwork! I’m so grateful that they did! The doctor who saved my life found that I have the VERY VERY VERY Beginning stages of renal disease. They caught it SO EARLY that the only thing I need is a special food to help my kidneys. Had this gone unnoticed, Lord only knows what could have happened! My rescuers bought a WHOLE BUNCH of my special food so that I can bring it with me to my new home. Speaking of eating… Remember when I said that my teeth were all rotten and painful when I was about to be euthanized? Yeah… well my rescuers got me straight into a doctor and the doctors pulled all of those rotten teeth out! MAN IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE OUT OF PAIN! So, I don’t have any teeth (at all), but that does NOT stop me from enjoying meals and snacks!
SCM) What would you like others to know about you, Baby?
ME) I am a simple girl with simple needs. I am incredibly sweet, I love to cuddle, I have a FABULOUS smile, I’m very loveable, and I will return that affection 10-fold. I know what it’s like to look death in the eye, and I am grateful for the second chance I’ve been given. I feel like a whole new dog now that my needs have been properly attended to. Please don’t think that just because I’ve made a few trips around the sun that I am not capable or deserving. I know that when my FOREVER family finds me, we are going to have a great life together! And since you asked, I don’t mind a good back massage every now and then… Oh, and soft, luxurious beds feel positively heavenly. I’d love to have several around the house to choose from! 😘
KNOWN HISTORY –This absolutely AMAZING (almost) 13 year old girl gave the best of herself to her family. They weren’t able to get Baby the proper preventative care that she so desperately needed. Our veterinarian called us immediately because she KNEW that Baby still had so much life left in her, she just needed someone get her the care she needed immediately. We brought Baby into our program without a second thought. We got her all fixed up and healthy and now this wonderfully sweet senior girl is ready to live the BEST years of her life with a family who will truly treasure her for the gift that she is!
